- Diploma (DPT): Diploma in physiotherapy is a job oriented medical/paramedical course. It is a 2-year certificate program. Candidates can pursue this course by 10th standard or 12th standard, in this course one can get the basic theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on practical knowledge. You need to fulfill the eligibility criteria to do diploma in physical therapy. It is not that much value as Bachelor degree is.
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT): BPT is an undergraduate 4½ years Degree course. To take admission in BPT one needs to clear 10+2 from the medical stream with a maximum aggregate of 50%.One also needs to clear a common CET test and admission in many institutes is based on CET test scores. The subject that covered under BPT Anatomy, Exercise Therapy, Orthopedics and sports, Neuro, Community based rehabilitation.
- MPT (Master of Physiotherapy): It is a complete 2-year degree program which one can do after completion of BPT. Candidates need to acquire at least 60% marks in aggregate. One can select their course in Cardio-pulmonary Sciences, Community, Neurosciences, Neurosciences, Pediatrics and Women Health. Master’s in this field offer evidence-based and ethical learning in all areas of physiotherapy.
- D.: It is a 3-year long pre-doctorate degree program. The minimum requirement for doing Ph.D. is a bachelor and postgraduate degree. The admission in Ph.D. is highly dependent on the applicant’s performance in the entrance exam and resulting round of counseling. With a Ph.D. program in Physiotherapy, candidates can develop a leadership role in physical therapy profile. One can also join research groups to grow new treatments and teach at a university or college level. Candidates can work as a private physiotherapist, take on a not-for-profit position or work in the public sector.
Job scope and opportunities are immense for the candidates after completion of education or degree program. A physiotherapist is needed in almost every department in the hospital, they can also work independently in any clinic or research center.
